Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during my first massage?

Your first session begins with a brief conversation about your goals, areas of tension, and any injuries or concerns. You’ll be guided through everything you need to know so you feel comfortable and relaxed.

How should I undress for a massage?

You should undress to your comfort level. Most clients undress completely or leave on underwear bottoms — either is perfectly fine, but anything you leave covering you will limit my ability to use all the tools available to me to help you heal. I.e. If you are having sciatica and need deep work in your hips, underwear will be extremely limiting for my effectiveness. You will always be fully draped with a sheet, and only the area being worked on is uncovered. Your privacy, comfort, and safety are always the top priority.

Do massages hurt?

Some therapeutic techniques (like deep tissue or trigger point work) may create mild discomfort, but it should always feel like a “good pressure.” You’re encouraged to communicate your comfort level at any time.

How often should I get a massage?

For general wellness, many clients enjoy monthly sessions. For chronic pain, injury recovery, or athletic training, weekly or bi‑weekly sessions may be more beneficial.

Can massage help with chronic pain?

Yes — massage can reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, and support long‑term pain management. Techniques like deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and injury recovery massage are especially effective.

Do you accept same‑day appointments?

Availability varies, but same‑day sessions are sometimes possible. Booking ahead is recommended to secure your preferred time.

Is prenatal massage safe?

Absolutely. Prenatal massage uses gentle, supportive techniques and comfortable positioning designed specifically for pregnancy. Always consult your doctor if you have medical concerns.

What if I’m sore after a massage?

Mild soreness can happen, especially after deeper work. It usually fades within 24–48 hours. Staying hydrated and using gentle stretching can help.

Can I request specific pressure levels?

Yes — pressure is always customized to your comfort. You can request lighter, medium, or deeper pressure at any time during your session.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes — massage gift certificates are available and make a thoughtful wellness gift.
